Coach Singletary’s Early Impact for the San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are a young team with lots of upside. Head coach Mike Singletary and his “I want winners” mentality seems to be working.

The 49ers had a disappointing season in 08′ but improved towards the end of the season. While Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Joe Montana are long gone from the 49ers - the players the 49ers do have are RB Frank Gore, TE Vernon Davis, LB Patrick Willis, and QB Shaun Hill. They might not be the most talented group of players to ever play for the 49ers, rest assure, Coach Singletary will maximize his players and make sure they play up to their potential.

The 49ers are in the same division as the Arizona Cardinals - the reigning NFC West champs. The Cardinals haven’t played like Super Bowl NFC representatives as of yet.

The 49ers have a good chance to win the NFC West because they are so well coached and overall - the NFC West is rather weak. Whether it’s a weak division or not, the 49ers should compete for the division crown which will get them in the playoffs.

The glory days of the 49ers might be gone but they are in the process of rebuilding another Super Bowl type team. This year might not be their Super Bowl season, in a couple years the 49ers could raise the Vince Lombardi trophy for their 6th time and the teams first since 1995.

Coach Singletary is the perfect man for the job to make this happen, the 49ers are a young team and need a “general” like coach to keep them on the straight and narrow.

LB Patrick Willis has emerged as a Pro Bowl player and will cause offenses many problems during the course of the year.

The 49ers may not have to worry about the teams in their own division, they will have to worry about the likes of the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys and other potential NFC contenders.
